Sur scène, l'atelier Drosselmeier devient un vieux théâtre de revue, où les personnages du ballet prennent vie. La chorégraphie de Spuck joue avec la richesse des personnages dans le monde narratif d'Hoffmann, habités par l'absurde et l'humour, tout en montrant les abysses sombres du romantisme.
